CALLING ALL BOOKS! Our classroom library is ALWAYS accepting book donations. If you have any books at home that you are willing to part with, please send them in to our classroom library for student use! Help us create life-long readers!
The seventh grade Language Arts program utilizes the Columbia Teachers' College Readers and Writers Workshop approach. In Writing Workshop students will have the opportunity to write in various genres for a variety of purposes. In addition, we will weave the grammar and writing skills essential for success on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessment and beyond into our workshop program.
Since the implementation of Readers Workshop, we have seen such great changes in our middle school students' reading habits. This year we will focus on a multitude of literary genres throughout the year. In Readers Workshop we will be using a variety of reading strategies to help students grow in their own independent reading. We will also focus on vocabulary, and the literary skills needed for proficiency on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College Careers (PARCC).
